Elena's Serenadethird Grade Reading Streets Lesson

Monday- SW Build background about glass blowing, animals that make music, and predicting/generalizing... Look up information related to these topics online. Complete workbook pages 143-144.
We will introduce and discuss this week's vocabulary words.
Tuesday-SW Review vocabulary words, Read the story selection 'Elena's Serenade' and discuss. We'll review predicting/generalizing, main idea and details, fact and opinion, using context clues and synonyms,along with other reading skills and strategies when reading. Complete workbook pages 145-146-147
Wednesday-SW Review Vocabulary and reread story selection from Tuesday. Take online Selection Test and AR test. HW- 20 Minute Read
Thursday-SW- Read a selection related to Social Studies and relate to story of the week.
Assign students to their leveled readers and worksheets to complete and take an AR test on the leveled reader.
Friday-SW
Read/sing poems on p. 408-411 for fluency and expression, and relate to the unit's theme on Freedom.
Read additional leveled readers and take AR tests. Review how to take notes. Complete workbook pages 148-149-150 which review various reading skills and phonics patterns for the week. I will do progress monitoring also. We will visit the library today.
